The School Day, Term Dates and Attendance
Everything here is the practical spine of the week: when school starts and ends, when terms run, what we expect on attendance, and how the year flexes for Ramadan.
The School Day

Learning starts promptly. A child who arrives at 8:35 has already missed the settled start of the day.
The day doesn't have to end at 3:30. Homework Club, Debate Club for Key Stage 2 and after-school care carry the afternoon on for families who need it. See Clubs & Enrichment and Wraparound Care.

Current term dates, half-term breaks and INSET days are published in the calendar below, which is kept up to date through the year. Check here rather than an old letter.
Attendance: Why We Hold the Line
Small classes make absence visible: in a class of 15, one empty chair is nearly 7% of the room. More importantly, learning here is sequential: weekly quizzes build on weekly teaching, and Qur'an memorisation builds day on day. Missed days genuinely cost more than they seem to.
So we ask three things of every family:
Be on time. In school by 8:20am, every day your child is well.
Tell us the same morning If your child is ill, call the office on 020 4539 9737 when it opens at 8:00am.
Don't book holidays in term time. Term dates are published well ahead, and the calendar already respects the rhythms that matter to our families, including Ramadan and the Eids.
Requesting Leave of Absence
If an exceptional circumstance means your child needs to miss school, please request leave in advance and in writing to the school. Use the leave-of-absence form below and return it to the office; each request is considered individually.

Ramadan: The Year Bends Around What Matters
Ramadan is not an interruption to school life here. It is part of the school's life. The timetable adjusts during the month so that fasting children (and fasting staff) have a sustainable day, and details of each year's arrangements are shared with families before Ramadan begins.
And for the last ten days of Ramadan, the school closes, deliberately. Those days and nights belong to worship and family, and we would rather close well than compete with laylat al-qadr for your child's attention. The closure is built into the published term dates each year.
